BOOSTER CLUB MEETING SEPTEMBER 2, 2008 In attendance were:
Mark (President) and Lynn Fralix George Brickle, Vice-President Sheri Mizell, Secretary Jeff Aumend, Athletic Director Robin Beane Bubba Hartzog Harvey Kizer Darryl Austin
Mark Fralix, President, called the meeting to order at approximately 6:35.
Old Business Discussed:
Apparel and novelty items have been purchased for the Stadium Store. Among items purchased were gym shorts, umbrellas, stadium seats, golf shirts, tail hitch covers, decals, youth jerseys, sweater vests and sports bags. Robin and Lynn are to get together and set up pricing for each item and have agreed to set up for the next home game.
Chained link fencing has been purchased to replace the existing fencing on the Dog Pound End Zone. Mark is to see about getting the old fence removed and the new fencing installed as soon as possible.
Sheri informed the members that sign renewal letters had been mailed, with the exception of four because she lacked the correct mailing addresses. Coach was to acquire the correct addresses so that those four letters could be sent out. Mark stated that he had not received any money from sign renewals yet, but as the letters had only been out a week, he was anticipating the funds would be forthcoming.
Approximately $1450 had been raised from the sale of Super Boosters so far.
Jeff stated that September 13th had been scheduled as a gym clean up day and presented the members with a letter that had gone out to the parent body encouraging everyone to attend. The letter included a list of things that needed to be done in and to the gym’s exterior as well as its interior. It was suggested that the date be posted on In-Touch and perhaps and in the Eagle so that parents will be aware of the clean up day.
New Business Discussed:
Mark asked Jeff what his opinion was as far as the administration side, if there would be a conflict asking Sheri to remain as Secretary due to the fact that she no longer had any children registered at the school. Mark and Jeff both agreed that with Sheri being an alumni, has a son that is now an alumni and is willing to volunteer her time in service to the Booster Club and the school, that there should be no issues should she remain in her current position. All members present agreed and as it stands, she will remain as Secretary.
Mark suggested electing a Chairman of Fund Raising. Sheri nominated Robin, Lynn seconded the nomination and all voted in favor. Robin is to seek volunteers to form a committee to work on various fund raisers. Several ideas were brought up and the following have been voted on: a golf tournament in the early spring, donkey basketball game, shotgun/rifle raffle, a spaghetti supper and possibly a turkey shoot in the winter. The spaghetti supper has been set for November 21st as well as the drawing for the shotgun/rifle raffle. The supper will be from 4-7 on the 21st (which will be a home game vs. Bowman Academy) and tickets will be $7.00 each. Robin is to design the tickets for both and present them for approval to Mark.
Further discussions on fund raisers included having the Big Bucks Steak Supper at the Eutopia in Holly Hill, Lynn has expressed an interest in forming a basketball camp, Mark has had some discussion with Vance regarding a B-Team tournament, and Sheri is to speak to Leslie regarding the Fall Carnival. If the PTO has not made plans to host a carnival this year, the Boosters are interested in doing so. Mark and George are to work on making plans for the golf tournament and Mark is to speak to Bryan Hutto in regards to providing the shotgun/rifle for the raffle.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.
The meeting adjorned at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Minutes recorded and reported to Mrs. Brock by Sheri Mizell, Booster Club Secretary, September 5, 2008
