PTO Meeting Minutes Monday, April 11, 2011
Called to order and Prayer: at 6:15PM by Shirley Westbury

Balance was unavailable Check book was in Mrs. Karen’s office and she was home sick.

Mrs. Karen’s went home sick so there was no Headmaster’s Report
No official Headmaster, Board, Club, SCISA, reports
SCISA/Athletic/SGA Report (Shirley Westbury):
Lots of athletic activities going on
Trying to put things together for a Skeet club
Working on putting together a Tennis club
Booster Club Report (Shirley Westbury):
Working hard on putting together Summer Projects
Ball players all over playing games.

Discussed putting together specific committees for next year’s fund raising projects
Discussed doing the Charleston Wrap as a fundraiser for wrapping paper fundraiser in 2011/2012 school year.

Music Festival: 8 students attended, Total of 1016 students there,
SGA Convention: 26 students to Myrtle Beach

PTO MINUTES January 17, 2011
Call to Order and Prayer: Shirley Westbury
College Planning: RuthAnne O’Cain
Boxtops are free money for school
Apparel Orders: Printer was not able to print, Checks will go back home in the mail or can be picked up after the meeting. Next order will be possibly the end of February.
March Board Nominations: Two members coming off of current Board
Board Elections: April
Students: 299, 3 new students
Civil War Exhibits: Participants said DA was one of the best groups they have ever worked with. Heather Judy was in charge of this event.
Inclement Weather Days do not have to be made up.
Officials room over gyms is finished. Volunteers painted. Shuler Memorial Funds were used. Officials room was improved because the Comfort Inn chose not to advertise so it was a hassel to pay and get officials a place to shower at 70-90 dollars a night.
Nancy Bartholmew thanked everyone who helped with Supper With Santa. It was a very good turn out.
SCISA report – Penny Fender: DA Placed 3rd overall in Spelling Bee at Calhoun .
Events coming up: Math Meet, Literary Meet, Quiz Bowl, Drama Festival
Brian Hutto noted that the next project would be to paint the outside of the gym.
Auction Date not set. Might possibly be an oyster roast.
No parent comments or concern or committee reports.
Thanks to Jr Beta Club for help with Tervis Tumbler sales.
Scott Garris said we should spread the word about how well the school is doing.
Steak Supper will be rescheduled due to a conflicting date.
Original Works date will possibly be in April for a Mother’s Day Delivery.
Santa is coming to Dorchester Academy!
When: Monday, December 13 at 6:00 pm.
Hot dogs, Chips, and Desserts will be served.
Cost is $10 per family with purchase of advanced tickets. Tickets purchased at the door will be $15 per family.
Come get your picture taken with Santa!
Student Government will also be accepting food donations for their canned food drive at this time.
