The ability to read is a fundamental life skill. Reading can also be a rewarding and pleasurable experience. It is a goal of Dorchester Academy to teach students to appreciate and enjoy exciting reading experiences and quality literature. With this goal in mind, we have developed a summer reading program for all of our students. We challenge students and parents to participate in a dialogue about the reading and to enjoy the knowledge gained from these books. Parents are urged to monitor their child’s reading progress. Reading is one of the most effective methods to improve standardized test scores, including the SAT and ACT.
